Vice President, Stakeholder Relations

Ontario Power Generation (OPG)

Toronto, Ontario

Ontario Power Generation (OPG), which is wholly owned by the Province of Ontario, is Ontario’s largest clean energy generator, producing about half of the electricity used by Ontarians every day – all at a significantly lower cost than other producers.

OPG’s mission is to provide low cost power in a safe, clean, reliable and sustainable manner through a focus on four key strategic imperatives: Operational Excellence, Project Excellence, Financial Sustainability, and Social Licence. OPG’s key stakeholder groups include municipal, provincial, federal and international (including United States) governments; local host communities; industry associations, peers, and suppliers; key influencers including NGOs, chambers of commerce and others concerned with OPG’s environmental, safety and economic activities; and customers.

As part of this growth, OPG is seeking a senior and experienced leader to join their Corporate Affairs team in the role of Vice President, Stakeholder Relations. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs, the Vice President plays a key leadership role across the entire team and is responsible for delivering on key parts of the Corporate Affairs’ strategy. The Vice President will be accountable for effectively managing and providing leadership for the stakeholder and government relations function at OPG, which includes developing and delivering strategies to build and manage relationships with broader stakeholders, including senior officials, federal, provincial, municipal and international governments, industry, local communities, key influencers and customers.

As the ideal candidate, you will possess a minimum of 10-15 years of progressive and relevant experience (government relations, stakeholder management, community relations, public affairs, and/or public policy), and must have also gained considerable experience working for government or working closely with various levels of government. You are a strong leader with a proven ability to lead, influence and motivate a high performing team, and are experienced in building integrated and strategic stakeholder relations plans for a complex organization similar to size and scope of OPG.
