Manitoba Hydro is one of the largest integrated electricity and natural gas distribution utilities in Canada. Manitoba Hydro is a provincial Crown Corporation and leader in the distribution of renewable energy and clean burning natural gas. In addition to providing electricity and natural gas to customers across Manitoba, Manitoba Hydro exports electricity in three wholesale markets in Canada and the mid-western United States. Nearly all the electricity Manitoba Hydro produces each year is renewable hydro power generated using the province’s abundant water resources. It generates electricity at 15 hydroelectric generating stations primarily on the Winnipeg, Saskatchewan and Nelson Rivers.
Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President, Human Resources & Corporate Services (VP) will be a key member of the Executive team. The VP will work collaboratively with the President and executive team and contribute to the formation, revision and execution of the strategic plan for Manitoba Hydro.
The VP will oversee a diverse team of professionals and provide effective leadership on all matters relating to corporate talent and administrative services including supporting the effective management, capability and capacity of the organization’s human capital, Information Technology, Corporate Safety and Health, Environmental, Fleet, Facilities, Purchasing, and Materials Management. In addition, the VP ensures the effective and efficient delivery of corporate services including communications and public affairs.
The successful candidate will have a degree in Business or a related discipline with a minimum of 10 years of senior executive leadership experience. They will also have significant experience establishing and implanting Human Resources policies and programs, ideally in a heavily unionized organization. Overall, candidates should possess and demonstrate proficiency in communicating within a large complex environment, leading and developing others, strategic thinking, and change management.
