With assets under administration of $153.4 billion, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors. Since its inception in 2000, BCI has grown significantly and is now regarded as one of Canada’s most influential financial institutions with a diverse and global mix of assets. BCI is at an exciting time in its history - the goal is to position the corporation to manage over $200 billion in assets over the coming years and BCI is on pace to reach 600 employees over the next few years.
Over the past five years, BCI has gone through a significant transformation as it has internalized its investments functions and diversified into global markets, direct private assets and more complex public investments. In fact, the organization has nearly tripled in size during this time. To meet these needs, the finance team has to rapidly transform and grow into a key strategic contributor and partner. While the structure and team is now largely built out, BCI continues to evolve and change at a rapid pace and there remain significant opportunities to build upon a solid foundation and talented team to create a world-class finance function.
The opportunity now exists for a talented finance leader to join BCI to take on significant leadership mandate. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Finance and leading a team of 45, the Vice President, Finance will take on a broad mandate overseeing BCI’s corporate accounting, investment accounting, financial reporting and valuations and financial planning and analysis functions. The VP will provide leadership, vision and mentorship to a talented team, leading continuous improvement, improving efficiency and quality of reporting and analysis, and ensuring finance is consistently adding additional value to the business and BCI’s clients.
The ideal candidate will bring a track record of success as a senior finance executive in a growing, complex financial services environment. Broad accounting skills and deep experience in corporate and management accounting and FP&A will be a requirement while specific experience in investments and fund accounting is an asset. The VP will have provided inspirational leadership to large teams going through significant growth and change while operating as a strategic partner to the business.
This is a unique, senior leadership opportunity to take on a significant and diverse mandate to help build out world-class investment finance and accounting team within one of the fastest growing and influential investment organizations in North America.
