Saskatchewan Mutual Insurance Company (SMI) is a federally regulated property and casualty insurance company operating successfully in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba.  As a mutual, the Company’s Policyholders have voting rights and annually have the opportunity to participate in the election of the Board of Directors that oversees and governs the organization.  Earnings are retained to support future growth, to maintain a strong capital position and to help keep insurance rates low for its policyholders.

SMI is seeking a new Senior Vice President, Operations (SVP), who oversees the design, enhancement, implementation, reporting and oversight of the Company’s underwriting, marketing, claims and business intelligence operations. As a key member of the firm’s leadership team, the SVP has a leadership role in building, implementing and overseeing all of the Company’s systems, processes, workflows, and procedures. The SVP will provide leadership, coaching and direction to senior management in these areas and assist the Company in achieving its strategic objectives.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a bachelor’s degree in business, statistics, actuarial science, or a related field, complemented by more than seven years’ experience with an emphasis on leading and managing high performing teams. You are a strategic thinker and a leader, who must have a strong understanding of the insurance industry. You are able to provide oversight and support for the corporate underwriting strategy, product management and pricing function to provide profitable results.  You use innovative approaches to lead early adaptation of change and technology. You possess outstanding supervisory skills in human resources management, with “hands-on” approach to empower employees to be successful. You have a credible presence working with a Board of Directors and excellent project management skills with proven ability to handle multiple tasks in a rapidly changing environment.
