With assets under administration of $145.6 billion, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors. Since its inception in 2000, BCI has grown significantly and is now regarded as one of Canada’s most influential financial institutions with a diverse and global mix of assets. Over the past three years, BCI has more than doubled in size as the organization evolves to manage more assets in-house and to expand into new and existing asset classes such as derivatives, private equity, infrastructure and real estate. BCI is at an exciting time in its history. The goal is to position the corporation to manage over $200 billion in assets over the coming years and BCI is on pace to reach 600 employees over the next few years.
The growth and transformation of the organization has also meant significant investment into BCI’s IT systems, infrastructure and human capital. This has led to the need for a new senior business leader to assume the position of Senior Vice President (SVP), Information Technology (IT). With a number of significant IT programs underway and expected over the next few years, the SVP, IT will take on a transformational mandate to implement, execute and shape the vision, strategy and plan that will allow the organization to effectively scale and execute on these key initiatives. This will include recruiting, leading, and developing a highly effective team and ensuring the function is appropriately structured, resourced and forecasted. Reporting to the COO, the SVP will oversee a diverse team of 120+ and be responsible for teams including enterprise services, infrastructure services, business services, application services, IT risk and security, account management, IT governance and PMO, data and analytics, and digital services.
The ideal candidate will be a highly successful business leader who has been responsible for technology strategy and direction in a complex, dynamic organization going through significant change, transformation and major investment into IT programs. Investments, asset management or financial services experience would be a significant asset but not a requirement. He/she will be a proven people leader with the experience to build a world-class technology team within a high growth environment.
Located in Victoria, this is a unique opportunity to take on a strategic leadership mandate within one of the fastest growing and influential global investors in the world.
