The Law Society of British Columbia (Law Society) regulates the legal profession in BC, protecting the public interest in the administration of justice by setting and enforcing standards of professional conduct for lawyers. Importantly, the Law Society also brings a voice to issues affecting the justice system and the delivery of legal services.
With approximately 220 employees, the Law Society responds to public concerns and complaints about lawyers and ensures lawyers meet their professional obligations by enforcing professional standards and providing assistance to the legal profession. Enhancing public confidence in the legal profession is a key objective of the Law Society.
A recent vacancy and subsequent newly configured role mean that an opportunity to join the Law Society exists in the role of Senior Director, Professional Development & Practice Support. A member of the Senior Leadership Team and reporting directly to the CEO, this new leader will have overall leadership responsibility for learning, development and practice support for both students and members of the Law Society of BC.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in a leadership capacity where development, implementation and monitoring of robust professional development programs and practices is in evidence. With strong project management skills, this individual will ensure that all of the Law Society’s related programs represent absolute best practice and work to support continued and strong confidence in the profession.
