Trans Canada Trail (TCT) is seeking an exceptional leader who will deliver its vision of being “The destination of choice for experiencing the majestic, pristine beauty of the Canadian outdoors and our rich culture.”
This is a unique opportunity for a forward-thinking, inspiring executive to lead a team and build national partnerships during a period of exciting growth for the TCT.
In 1992, two visionaries, Bill Pratt and Pierre Camu, were inspired to showcase Canada’s rich history, diverse culture and magnificent landscapes by creating a national Trail – a continuous thread that would connect Canadians from coast to coast to coast. With a dedicated network of volunteers, donors, Trail groups, communities and all levels of government The Great Trail was created and connection was achieved in 2017. Today, Canada is home to the world’s longest network of multi-use recreational trails, but the work is not done!
As President and CEO, reporting to the Chairs of the Boards of Directors (Trail Board & Foundation Board), you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction towards the creation and implementation of bold new vision, mission, strategic plan, and annual goals and objectives, which will go beyond connection to increase awareness of The Great Trail, enrich user experiences on the trail and develop new partnerships in and around use of the trail with like-minded organizations, public and private. You will work closely with and support the Boards’ Chairs to ensure both Boards fulfill their governance functions, and that strategies are created to ensure future successes. You will be both a national spokesperson and champion of the TCT, furthering the vision and mandate for the future of The Great Trail and the organization, nationally.
As the ideal President and CEO, you are a visionary and strategic leader, respected for your achievements and deep commitment to the Canadian experience. You are a skilled communicator, business-minded and financially astute. You have well-honed advocacy and government relations experience, and, throughout your career, have championed team-based cultures, and unified and engaged staff at all levels of the organization. You are a savvy fundraiser, with experience building relationships with granting organizations, government, corporate, private and public foundations and are adept at developing creative revenue generating programs, including major gifts, annual fundraising and government funding. You can strategically prioritize organizational goals and provide a high-level of corporate focus. Your authenticity, collaborative style, diplomacy and integrity have allowed you to build meaningful partnerships and relationships. Having worked with or reported to several not-for-profit Boards and/or committees, you appreciate the value and impact that sound governance and a healthy Board/staff partnership can have on an organization. Your ability to converse in both official languages will be a preferred asset.
If you have an interest in leading the TCT during this exciting period of growth, please send your CV and cover letter in confidence to Michael Naufal and Collin Ritch at firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com. Please include “President & CEO, Trans Canada Trail” in the subject line of your email.
We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those under consideration for the role will be contacted.
