The Toronto Transit Commission has a rich history of meeting the transit needs of Torontonians dating back to 1921. Since that time, the TTC has grown to become Canada’s largest public transit system and the third largest in North America.
Under the leadership of an experienced CEO, and guided by an ambitious Corporate Plan, the TTC has embarked on a 5-year journey to not only expand the reach of the TTC’s service but also to innovate, transform and modernize all aspects of the organization. The Plan sets the TTC up to achieve this vision over the long term with an aim for financial and environmental sustainability for decades to come.
In support of its strategic objectives, the TTC is seeking an experienced leader to join its team in the role of Head, Finance & Treasurer. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Head is responsible and accountable for providing strategic leadership; effective management and delivery of financial planning, management, control and reporting services that ensure fiscal accountability and transparency and advance fiscal sustainability in the delivery of TTC services to the public. The Head is also accountable for leading the delivery of Treasury services that include banking, cash management, accounts payable and receivable; insurance; financial leasing; tax remittances and contract administration responsibilities that ensure the TTC’s treasury requirements and controls; regulatory compliance and risk management needs are met.
As the ideal candidate, you will possess extensive experience in formulating complex budgets, strategic goals and objectives, policies and long-range programs. You will have demonstrated extensive supervisory experience, preferably gained within a municipal government, or other unionized public sector environment, along with extensive knowledge in strategic planning, financial principles and practices, budgeting concepts and techniques, financial analyses and forecasting. You are a strong transformational leader with a proven ability to effectively lead and manage a diverse, multidisciplinary team resulting in a work environment conducive to positive employee morale, a commitment to customer satisfaction and high delivery of service. An accounting designation is required for this role.
