Western’s business of traditional lumber sales is changing. The company has strategically decided to produce more finished products and sell them closer to the end user. Moving towards more customer-facing sales provides exciting opportunities to expand business partnerships at higher-value opportunities. To capitalize on this opportunity, Western has created a new role, GM, Specialty Sales to lead this exciting sales transformation.
Reporting to the Vice President, Sales & Wholesale Supply, and with the overarching objective of Defining a Higher Standard, the Director, Specialty Sales is responsible for implementing and enhancing Western’s global sales strategy for all specialty products, including niche products and western red cedar products. The new Director will be fully accountable for leading the global sales team in this area and will deliver a sales strategy and goals to meet pricing and margins through a focused product line and customer service model. The Director will expand Western’s sales in key market segments while identifying new products for the business.
The ideal candidate is a sales executive with a track record of driving revenue growth across multiple sales channels, including big box retailers. Experience that includes wood products or branded building products is preferred. Demonstrated experience identifying trends, assessing customer demand, designing new products, and driving the profitability of those products is required. Highly business focused, the preferred candidate will have the strategic agility to transform a traditional sales process.
