Since 2005, Community Living British Columbia (CLBC) has been serving adults with developmental disabilities and their families with a vision for “lives filled with possibilities in welcoming communities.”
CLBC is a Crown Corporation, mandated under the Community Living Authority Act and subject to government policy, and reports to the Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction through a dedicated Board of Directors that receives input from a Provincial Advisory Committee.
CLBC has about 600 employees and a budget of over $1B to support 21,000 eligible adults through a network of more than 3,500 service providers. These services include residential supports and respite, community inclusion and outreach support, and employment and skill development.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position has arisen as a result of the upcoming retirement (in late Spring, 2019) of the incumbent who has been in the position since 2014 and who has presided over a fundamental strengthening of the organization. With the support of a stable senior team, the current CEO has strengthened relationships with stakeholders, including service providers, individuals served, families and government partners. She has introduced more rigour around strategic planning and operations and has solidified CLBC’s role as a responsible funder through initiatives in finance and quality assurance to better support accountability in the service sector.
CLBC’s next CEO now has the opportunity to build upon this legacy by continuing to ensure that British Columbian’s living with developmental disabilities have full lives filled with possibilities and where equality and inclusion are advanced in communities around BC.
The ideal candidate brings a track record of success as a dynamic and senior leader of a large and complex organization characterized by complex challenges, provision of front-line services, stakeholder relations, and a service, quality improvement and caring ethos.
Working with a high-functioning and experienced Executive and Senior Management Team, a committed Board of Directors and incredible staff across the province, as well as volunteers who sit on 13 community councils, this is a rare and compelling opportunity to advance an important mandate on behalf of all adults with developmental disabilities and their families across the province.
