Chief Executive Officer

Richmond Society for Community Living

Richmond, BC

For more than 35 years, Richmond Society for Community Living (RSCL) has been serving both children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families with a vision for “a welcoming and connected community where everyone belongs”.

RSCL offers programs and services that assist each individual to develop skills which contribute to independence and well-being. This includes early intervention for infants at risk, access to supported child care and preschool for children with additional support needs, out of school care and transition planning for teens with disabilities, life-skills training, employment services and a range of housing options for adults with a disability who wish to live outside their family home. RSCL offers a continuum of care throughout the lifespan that allows the individuals in its programs—and their family members—to dream, plan, learn and grow. RSCL has 275 employees and a budget of over $17M to support over 1300 individuals.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position has arisen as a result of a long serving ED leaving to explore a new opportunity and who presided over a fundamental strengthening of the organization. With the support of a stable senior team, the incumbent oversaw conscious, careful organizational growth, strengthened relationships with stakeholders, and embedded the organization firmly as a thought leader and community builder in the City and across the movement.

RSCL’s future CEO now has the opportunity to build upon this legacy by continuing to ensure that citizens of Richmond living with developmental disabilities and their families have full lives filled with possibility and where greater equality and inclusion permeates all facets of their journeys.

The ideal candidate brings a track record of success as a senior leader of a complex program or organization characterized by a range of frontline services, stakeholder relations, and an innovative, quality improvement ethos. A strong operator and relationship builder, the CEO will have the ability to tackle difficult issues for people with developmental disabilities and their families, by not only leading a large and key body within the Richmond system, but also by partnering effectively with others who similarly bring value to the lives of those served.

Working with a high-functioning and experienced Senior Management Team, a committed Board of Directors and incredible staff and volunteers, this is a rare and compelling opportunity to support and improve the lives of so many.
