Chief Development Officer

Ronald McDonald House Charities® Alberta

Alberta

Ronald McDonald House Charities® Alberta (RMHC Alberta) is passionate about providing a home away from home for families with seriously ill or injured children. Seventy per cent of Canadian families live in an area without a children’s hospital. This means that when a child is seriously ill or injured, families must leave their homes, jobs and support systems to access vital – and often life-saving – medical care. We are here to help.

We know that when a child is sick, the whole family hurts. That’s why we’re part of a global network prioritizing family-centered care through our unique core programs. Our growing organization offers 79 private family suites in Edmonton, Red Deer, Medicine Hat and Calgary, as well as operates a state-of-the-art mobile medical clinic called the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. Our Houses provide a warm, compassionate and comfortable environment where families can share experiences, eat a warm homemade meal and rest while caring for their child who’s admitted to a nearby hospital.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Development Officer (CDO) is an integral decision maker and part of the Executive Team at RMHC® Alberta. They will be responsible for overseeing the execution and success of fundraising activities across the province of Alberta, and maximizing the philanthropic support that is received from the community. The CDO will be responsible for capacity building for a significant strategic capital campaign as RMHC® Alberta looks to expand in Calgary and Edmonton.

The CDO will be a visionary leader, providing leadership, coaching and guidance to the development team. They will be invested in bringing the best out of their team. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven track record of building relationships with major donors and cultivating partner relationships over time. They will have experience managing a six to seven figure major gift portfolio and an understanding of donor’s motivations and philanthropic objectives.
